Please reach us at paulkemptherapyservices@outlook.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Due to my work being exclusively online, I do require that the business contract and privacy re-signed and return before any work starts.
Once I receive your referral and you have signed and returned the business contract and privacy policy, we will have what we call the assessment session. In this session, I will go through the therapeutic contract with you. This will outline aspects of our work the agreed number of sessions and the frequency of those sessions.
Please note, this contract is a collaborative agreement between therapist and client, so please feel free to share what you might want added to that contract!
I will then ask you some safety questions and gather information that will need to help keep you safe: Next of kin, emergency contact, address and the name of your GP, and any medical conditions or medications that you would like me to know about.
During this process, please feel free to ask me any question that may come up.
Once that is done. We then begin getting to know you and what is bringing you to therapy. I will ask you to share with me in whatever way feels comfortable what is bringing you to therapy, what your goals for therapy might be. etc
I may also ask you about your background. For example: what your childhood was like, what your relationship is like with your parents and siblings. etc.
At the end of the session will we then make a decision together as to whether we are a good match, if all looks good and you're feeling good to go, then we begin our work together!
Life happens! And sometimes, it means that you might be able to make a session, that's fine.
All I ask is that you keep me as much notice as possible. If you were to cancel our sessions with less than 48 hours notice, you will be required to pay the full fee for the cancelled session.
So if you miss a session, I ask that you get in contact with me as soon as possible so we can rearrange for another time slot. You will be required to pay the full fee from the missed session.
In the event that a client misses three consecutive sessions without getting in touch or re-arranging. I then take that as a declaration that you are no longer attending I take you off of my books. Although, I do not advise or recommend this as it is important to end therapy in the proper ethical manner.
Everything you say to me within the safety of our sessions stays between us. It is my ethical duty to uphold confidentiality.
There are, however a few exceptions to this rule:
