My name is Paul, and I am BACP registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based in Teesside (it's okay if you've never heard of it). Since 2018, I have been developing my skills within the field of Psychotherapeutic Counselling. And as of 2025, I have had the privilege of helping over a hundred people on their respective journeys of healing, insight and self betterment.
When not counselling, I enjoy art, music (Both making and consuming) film, nature, good food, and getting lost in a good book or video game. I have been a practicing Buddhist lay practitioner for nearly two years, and often implement Buddhist teachings into my clinical work.
My work is routed in two simple yet universal truths:
"Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul. " - Carl Jung.
I love this quote because it encapsulates a lot for me.
I approach every therapeutic relationship with the same central tenets: Non-judgement, deep listening, acceptance and curiosity. I will dedicate the early stages of our work to getting to know you and what makes you tick as a person. As my understanding of you develops over time, so does my approach to our work. I take what matters to you and I use it as a tool in order to help you work through the issues that have brought you to therapy.
As an integrative therapist, my clinical toolkit draws on many theoretical models. I often use concepts from Transactional Analysis, Phenomenology, Attachment theory, and trauma-informed techniques. As well as psychological approaches, my approach is also inspired and informed by spiritual teachings and the intersection between mythology and personal growth. All of these approaches are communicated to my clients that are understandable, engaging, ethical, and above all, useful to YOUR journey.
I trained at Northern Guild School of Counselling and Psychotherapy and attained a level 6 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Adult specialism)
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
As a registered member I am bound to uphold and follow codes of ethics.
And I have attained numerous certificates during my CPD process including:
